2007 Festival of Trees

This web site is dedicated to those in our community who recognize the need to provide compassionate care to individuals diagnosed with a life-limiting condition - and did something about it.

The 2007 Hospice Festival of Trees, hosted by the Friends of Hospice and the Greater Waldorf Jaycees, was held November 22-26, 2007 at the Greater Waldorf Jaycees Community Center.

The Festival celebrated its 20th year, and because of the dedication of its supporters, it will again generate the largest single contribution to
Hospice of Charles County.

The Festival of Trees program commenced on Friday evening with a family Memorial Service and the ceremonial lighting of the Dove Tree. “We were honored to remember the men, women and children served by hospice over the past year,” according to Diana Rucci, President of the Friends of Hospice, “with such a fitting program to begin the event”.

The Festival was filled with events for all ages to enjoy. On Saturday, November 24, children joined Santa for breakfast or lunch and exciting prizes. At the black tie gala, guests danced the night away to the sounds of Amaretto and tried their luck at the casino and silent auction. On Sunday, November 25, all enjoyed an Evening at the Improv with featured comedians Matt Kazam and Joe Recca. On Monday, November 26 the Senior’s luncheon was held with a variety of lively entertainment.

The Friends of Hospice would like to thank the community for all its support and for making the 20th Annual Festival of Trees a success! We are extremely grateful to our sponsors, volunteers, participants and guests for the wonderful support given to this event year after year.

Special thank you to the Greater Waldorf Jaycees for their commitment, hard work and dedication to the Friends of Hospice, for being our partner, and for being a valuable community resource.
